One Tree Planted

Healthy forests give so much back to us: they clean our air and water, support health and biodiversity, stabilize our climate, and more.

Appalachia is one of America's most beautiful and renowned regions, stretching from the state of New York, all the way down to Alabama and Georgia. Home to the namesake Appalachian Trail, more than 150 tree species can be found in the region, making it one of the most diverse ecological regions in North America.

Unfortunately, the resource wealth of the region also means much of the forest has been degraded by mining and timber operations. Over the years, an estimated 83% of habitat has been lost. However, with an ever-growing tourism industry environmentally conscious organizations and businesses are stepping up to return the region to its former glory.

A percentage of all sales goes towards supporting the work of One Tree Planted.

“Investing in the regeneration of our planet and using our business as a conduit for positive social impact is core to our business model. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with the One Tree Planted coalition to help restore our forests both in Appalachia and across the globe.”

Community Initiatives

We are always looking for ways to lend a hand, and forge nurturing connections with our neighbors, team and community.

Haywood Downtown Welcome Table

Access to food is a basic human right, and while we might be sitting at home with our bellies full and satisfied, we wanted to do something to help our community in need. Since 2019, we’ve donated Buchi and have held team volunteer days to help prepare meals, serve, and sit with our community.

How to help: You too can play a part in feeding our community. Donate your time or resources to support and keep this program thriving.

Fate Foundation

The Fate Foundation expands educational opportunities and provides a very real path out of poverty toward prosperity for the Madison County community (where we’re based), and Western North Carolina. We’ve been a proud supporter since 2020.

How to help: Provide more growth opportunities to those in the Madison County community by donating to support this program.

There is a long list of local and regional organizations we choose to support through donations of Buchi. Showing up for our neighbors and community is what fills us up! Here are some of the recipients of Buchi donations in Quarter 1 of 2022: MANNA Food Bank, Wilderness Education Association, Yoga in the Park, Columbus Humane Society, Organic Growers School, and Mother Earth News.

Summer Veggie Box Sponsor

We are proud to sponsor a Veggie Box this season with Feed Asheville Farm! Feed Asheville Farm has been distributing free produce to the Asheville community since 2020. With the help of community partnerships, volunteers, and sponsorships they have gotten 4,000lbs of fresh, organic vegetables and herbs to our Asheville neighbors.

Their 2022 Veggie Box Program provides a FREE weekly box of fresh, organic, and hyper-local produce to a BIPOC family and/or member of the Asheville community regardless of income. Feed Asheville Farm is seeking more Veggie Box Sponsors this season to help cover the costs of these free weekly boxes. Learn more about how to become a Veggie Box Sponsor!

It Starts Within

We strive for a strong and educational environment inside our own company, within our local community and beyond the ridges of the Appalachian mountains.

At our brewery, we continue to grow and offer small plots of land to any of our team members who want to grow their own food!

Our Pantry Program allows our employees to purchase from small, local and organic businesses at wholesale prices. We feature products from Fermenti, Hickory Nut Gap Farms, Methodical Coffee and more!

Each quarter our team comes together for a shared meal and town hall style meeting to discuss new initiatives, the viability of our company, and answer any questions.

Lots of plant starters from the Buchi Community Garden. Thanks Tyler!
