Easy-to-drink blast of summer—watermelon and mint bring your temperature down while tulsi dials you back in.
Appropriately named, watermelon contains over 90% water. It is high in nutrients, especially carotenoids, vitamin C and cucurbitacin E. And, did you know that the cherry red color comes from lycopene, an antioxidant, which watermelon has more of than any other fruit or veggie?!
According to ancient Greek mythology, mint gets its name from the mythical character Minthe. Hades, the God of the Underworld, fell in love with Minthe, a river nymph. When Persephone, Hades’s wife, found out, she turned Minthe into a plant. Unable to reverse the spell, Hades gave Minthe a magnificent aroma so that she would always be noticed.
